Shatru Gate (2018)

Shatru Gate, a comedy-drama film directed & screenplay by Pradip Bhattarai and starring Deepak Raj Giri, Paul Shah, Aanchal Sharma, Deepa Shree Niraula, Hari Bansha Acharya and Priyanka Karki in the lead roles with cameo appearance of Madan Krishna Shrestha. Deepak Raj Giri wrote his second screenplay for this film, and he also takes the role of Rahul, who causes a dispute between the families of Suraj (Paul Shah) and Sandhya (Aanchal Sharma), a couple who is deeply in love and about to marry.

Deepak Raj Giri’s performance in Shatru Gate is decent, with praise for his comedic abilities but criticism for coming back to familiar roles from previous Chakka Panja films. While the film features a star-studded cast, Giri’s acting is noted for lacking the versatility required to elevate the film’s overall substance, which he will improve in his future roles. Shatru Gate may appeal to audiences because of its star-studded cast, which includes well-known Nepali actors such as Hari Bansha Acharya, Deepak Raj Giri, and Priyanka Karki. Despite its shortcomings in storyline and presentation, the film provides a dose of entertainment, humor, and catchy songs, making it a good choice for those looking for a lighthearted and engaging cinematic experience, especially if they like the starred actors with their decent comedic performances.

Although Deepak Raj Ghimire’s portrayal of Raja is not as iconic as its prequel, he has given his all in portraying the character, as have the rest of the cast members. The storyline is not as engaging as its prequel, but the audience is treated to a lot of laughter, with lots of comedy scenes, unexpected twists, and a different storyline that we can relate to the real-life of Nepalese youth, making it still enjoyable to watch, along with its good music taste.
